A good friend has sent us a limited supply of genuine Tasmanian poppy seed. The growers in this region are among the largest producers of pharmaceutical alkaloids in the world. The plants grow between 3 to 4 feet and produce a light pink to almost white flower in about 60 days from germination. Each plant produces several pods abundantly filled with seed. It has been hard to acquire this variety of Tasmanian poppy seed as the growers have been unwilling to sell or let any amount go to private gardeners.
