About Izmir

Izmir Farm is located on the Thompson River, near Kamloops, BC. It has 210 acres of large fields and clearings, coniferous and deciduous forest, rolling hills, rock cliffs and almost a mile of river flowing along its eastern border. We have an arid climate with early spring and long, very hot summers. Traditionally an area of large ranches and orchards, it now includes several ginseng plantations. We also have rattle snakes and a boa constrictor natural to this area and not found anywhere else in Canada.

We are presently testing 12 varieties of wine grape stock which we imported from vineyards at Santa Rosa, California. Our plan is to make a transition from ornamental poppies to wine grapes over the next 5 years.

This is an artesian well. It produces about 4 gallons per minute. I found this water using 2 coat hangers.
